After being in business for more than 50 years, Harry Green Chevrolet Nissan has begun the process of preparing for an even bigger future. The Clarksburg automotive dealership which was founded in 1959 by Harry Green, has unveiled plans to build a $3 million Nissan facility on the site of the current used car lot, followed by the additional construction of a new Chevrolet building.
As a result, the used car building is being demolished beginning this week.
The new 15,000 square foot Nissan facility will be state of the art, including a four-vehicle service ride up, nine dedicated service bays and a fully automated customer service center. Hal Green, President of Harry Green stated “When my Dad founded the business in 1959, he had an idea for a leading edge automotive dealership. I am very proud that the next generations of his family are following his vision by creating a dealership that will set the stage for a whole new customer experience in North Central West Virginia.”
During the construction, Harry Green will need to consolidate its used car department – one of the largest in West Virginia – into their current new vehicle showroom. “We are going to be a little cramped for space and we’ll need to keep moving our inventory with special short-term incentives, but we are all excited about what the final result will mean to this region and our dealership,” stated Nick Green, Hal’s son and grandson of the founder.
The new Nissan facility will be completed by September 2012. The construction of the new Chevrolet facility is scheduled to begin shortly after that with a tentative completion date of summer 2013. As one of the largest new and used vehicle automotive dealerships in the state, the construction represents a comprehensive expansion of the business with additional plans to be unveiled over the coming months.
